About Us
When I was pregnant with our fourth baby, I faced something that conventional medicine couldn't fix. A life-threatening clot. The doctors told us we were almost certainly going to miscarry. We were distraught.
We begged God to help us through the intercession of St. Jude. He answered through a homeopathic physician who guided us toward natural remedies. And something remarkable happened—the clot dissolved on its own. Our daughter was born healthy and thriving.
That moment changed everything.
It awakened something in us: a recognition that our ancestors knew things we'd forgotten. That the saints understood the connection between faith and the healing gifts of creation. That tending to our families' health is not separate from our spiritual life—it's woven into it.
I began studying the wisdom of Catholic mystics like St. Hildegard von Bingen, who saw the natural world as God's language of love for us. I discovered that across centuries and monasteries, faithful Catholics had been gathering these same truths: that plants carry purpose, that prayer sustains us, that it's the "little things"—like caring for loved ones when they are sick—that really matter.
Humble Housewives exists to gather these whispers from the old ways and make them tangible for you.
The botanicals we offer, the prayers we've collected, the sacred art we've restored—each one carries forward what the saints have always known. They're expressions of timeless wisdom rooted in faith, paired with devotions of eternity.
Simple tools for living your faith beautifully, woven into the ordinary rhythms of home and family.
Thank you for keeping vigil with us. We're grateful to have you here with us.
Keeping you in prayer,
Mary Fernandez & Family
