6 Days or Billions of Years: What Difference Does it Make?

6 Days or Billions of Years: What Difference Does it Make?

May 23, 2024 2 min read

The Fathers and Doctors of the Church assert that God's creation of Adam, Eve, and all different kinds of living things was instantaneous—by "fiat"—as He spoke them into being. According to the infallible Magisterium, Creation was flawless, devoid of death and disease until the Fall of Man.

In contrast, modern science posits evolution over billions of years, suggesting that humans evolved from apes through a process of natural selection.

But which perspective holds true? Does it truly matter? These are the questions Mr. Owen delves into in his upcoming online course, "Six Day Creation."

With nine children and twenty grandchildren (so far), Mr. Owen brings a wealth of experience and passion to his work. Alongside his colleagues at the Kolbe Center for the Study of Creation, he tirelessly and eloquently defends the traditional Catholic view of creation, merging theological and scientific insights.

As interest grows, more people are realizing the significance of this debate. The answer to whether God created through fiat or an evolutionary process holds profound implications for our understanding of the true nature of God.

So, where do you stand? I encourage you and your older children to join Mr. Owen as he explores the intersections of faith and science, seeking to understand the origins of our existence through the light of Sacred Scripture, Tradition, and the scientific evidence.
