Jean Colombe (c. 1430 – c. 1493) was a French illuminator and painter from Bourges, known for his richly detailed and refined style that bridged Gothic elegance and early Renaissance naturalism. He inherited his family’s workshop and became one of France’s leading manuscript artists, completing the famous Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry and creating other masterpieces such as the Hours of Louis de Laval. His intricate landscapes, luminous skies, and delicate figures influenced French illumination into the 16th century.
